Huge congratulations to the Scurry-Rosser Middle School Band on an outstanding performance at Friday’s Pre-UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation. The band earned superior ratings in both stage performance and sightreading, bringing home the Sweepstakes trophy. This tremendous accomplishment reflects the students’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. The steer show marked the final contest of the Kaufman County Junior Livestock Show, and it did not disappoint. Our exhibitors brought their very best to the ring, showcasing months of hard work, early mornings, and dedication.

Big things were built this year — and we’re not just talking about projects. 44 total entries for the show, 20 of those were from Scurry-Rosser FFA! All blue ribbon projects and Sweepstakes Champion.

Our Ag Mech FFA students absolutely knocked it out of the park at the Kaufman County Junior Livestock Show (KCJLS)! From the first weld to the final coat of paint, the craftsmanship, creativity, and countless hours behind each project truly paid off.

February 19 is State of Texas Anniversary Remembrance Day (STAR Day). STAR Day honors the annexation of Texas into the United States and commemorates the day James Pinckney Henderson became the first Governor of the State of Texas in 1846.

Texas law encourages public schools to observe STAR Day through meaningful and patriotic activities that inspire a deeper appreciation for our state’s rich history. Today, we remember where we’ve been and celebrate the legacy that continues to shape our future.

I hope everyone had a relaxing three day weekend! This week SRMS will be Benchmark testing.

Tomorrow Wednesday February 18th: Science Benchmark 5th & 8th grade students ONLY
Thursday February 19th: Social Studies Benchmark 8th grade students ONLY
Friday February 20th: Math 4th - 8th grade. (Sack lunches will be served if students are buying their lunch. Microwaves will not be used February 20th please plan accordingly.)

Please make sure students get plenty of rest and their Chromebooks are charged and ready to go!

Today we experienced some issues with the 7th and 5th grade Field Test, and some students were unable to finish testing. T. E. A. has confirmed that an issue this morning caused a temporary interruption to testing. The issue has now been resolved. SRMS will resume testing tomorrow February 4th. Please make sure your student's Chromebook is charged and ready to go!
